Zuckerberg Predicts Shift to Smart Glasses

Mark Zuckerberg envisions a major technological shift from smartphones to augmented reality (AR) glasses in the coming years. He believes that while smartphones have dominated for the past three decades, the future lies in AI-powered smart glasses. However, this transition will require addressing key challenges such as user comfort, continuous AI tracking, and limited battery power.

Meta's innovative Orion project has already paved the way for this transformation by introducing advanced AI glasses with holographic displays. These glasses allow users to navigate through text and calls without using a smartphone, using eye tracking, hand gestures, and voice commands to connect with digital content. Meta has also collaborated with Ray-Ban to create stylish smart glasses with built-in cameras, speakers, and voice control.

With tech giants like Apple and Meta heavily investing in AR technology, Zuckerberg’s vision of replacing smartphones with smart glasses seems increasingly achievable, though gradual.
