On October 27 an ammunition cartridge was discovered in the pocket of a seat on an Air India flight (AI916) arriving in Delhi from Dubai.
The airline confirmed the incident and stated that the cartridge was found after all passengers had safely disembarked. Following standard security protocols Air India lodged a complaint with the airport police regarding the finding.
This incident occurred amid a series of hoax bomb threats targeting flights and airports across India. Just a few days later on October 30 a false claim was made on social media about a bomb on an Air India flight from Delhi to Mumbai via Indore which was also identified as a hoax. The Indore police subsequently opened a case against an unidentified individual in connection with this false alarm.
