In the aftermath of Israel's recent attack on Iranian targets, Saudi Arabia issued a statement that notably did not mention Israel by name. Instead, the Saudi government emphasized its commitment to “the security and stability of the countries” in the region, refraining from direct criticism of Israel.
Similarly, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) echoed a neutral stance, stressing "the importance of dialogue and adherence to international law" rather than addressing Israel's actions directly.
This approach has reportedly left Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei shocked, as Saudi Arabia and the UAE, two prominent Middle Eastern powers, refrained from condemning Israel over the attack. This shift in diplomatic language suggests a careful balancing act, with both Saudi Arabia and the UAE possibly aiming to maintain regional stability without escalating tensions further.
