A dramatic incident unfolded in the United States during a cabinet meeting chaired by President Donald Trump. Reports suggest that billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio got into a heated argument in the presence of the President. American media sources indicate that the two engaged in a war of words during the meeting.
After assuming office for the second time, President Trump established the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), assigning its leadership to Tesla CEO Elon Musk. This department aims to enhance governance and cut down unnecessary government expenditures. As part of these measures, thousands of government employees have been laid off, sparking widespread criticism. In response, Trump convened a cabinet meeting to address the concerns, with Musk and Rubio among the attendees.
During the discussion, Musk justified the layoffs by stating that non-performing employees were being removed. However, Rubio countered by claiming that no one had been terminated. This statement led to a sharp reaction from Musk, prompting Rubio to assert that 1,500 employees had already opted for voluntary retirement. He further explained that in order to remove more employees, those who had already retired would have to be reinstated first.
Reacting to reports of the confrontation between Musk and Rubio, President Trump dismissed the claims. He stated that he was present during the meeting and that no such altercation had occurred.
