India Recalls Diplomatic Officials Amid Strained Relations with Canada

India has escalated its diplomatic response to Canada by recalling its envoy and other diplomatic officials from the country, amid deteriorating relations between the two nations. This decision comes after Canada accused Indian diplomats of being "persons of interest" in the investigation into the killing of Khalistan terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

In response, India's Ministry of External Affairs summoned Canada's charge d'affaires in New Delhi on Monday to express strong objections to the unfounded allegations against Indian diplomats, including High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma.

India cited concerns over the safety of its diplomatic officials in Canada, claiming that the Canadian government's handling of the situation posed a security threat to Indian diplomats. As a result, India has decided to withdraw its High Commissioner and other diplomats from Canada, expressing a lack of confidence in the Trudeau government's commitment to ensuring their security.
