Hugs Shouldn't Exceed 3 Minutes

A signboard spotted at Dunedin Airport in New Zealand has sparked online discussion. The sign advises people seeing off their loved ones not to hug for more than three minutes. If they need more time, they are encouraged to use the parking area instead of the drop-off zone. A photo of the sign, which states "maximum 3-minute hugs," was shared on Facebook and quickly went viral.

The internet is divided on the issue. Some support the decision, with one commenter joking that those who exceed the limit could face fines ranging from £5 to £100. Others were less convinced, questioning the strict time limit, with one person remarking, "Only three minutes? In America, no one would even try to stop you!"

Dunedin Airport CEO Daniel Di Bonno responded, saying that airports are emotional hotspots. He mentioned that even a 20-second hug can release the "love hormone," oxytocin. He added that this rule allows more people to share quick hugs.
