From Space to Earth: Sunita Williams Safely Lands

After being stranded in space for nine months due to a spacecraft malfunction, astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have safely returned to Earth. The duo, who departed from the International Space Station on Tuesday, landed safely off the coast of Florida at 3:27 AM IST on Wednesday.

As soon as the Dragon spacecraft touched down in the ocean, rescue teams sprang into action, retrieving the Crew Dragon capsule from the water and assisting the astronauts out. The successful conclusion of this mission, filled with unexpected challenges and historic moments, was met with joy and relief. NASA confirmed that after 286 days in space, Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore, and two other astronauts—Nick Hague from SpaceX Crew-9 and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Gorbunov—safely returned to Earth.

NASA live-streamed the re-entry of the SpaceX Crew-9 mission into Earth's atmosphere on its official X account, YouTube, and NASA+ platform.
