A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck North Hollywood on Sunday night, shortly after the conclusion of the 95th Academy Awards. The tremor, recorded at 10:13 PM PT, occurred three hours after Anora secured Best Picture, marking its fifth Oscar win.
The quake's epicenter was near North Hollywood, close to Universal City and Studio City. Despite tremors reaching areas like Santa Monica and Los Feliz, no injuries or damages were reported. Attendees at post-Oscar parties remained largely unaware of the quake.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LAFD) did not deploy units for damage assessment, deviating from its usual protocol. By 10:45 PM PT, the US Geological Survey had not detected any aftershocks. While the quake caused mild shaking, it did not disrupt the city's post-Oscar celebrations.
