Iranian pop singer Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, also known as "Tataloo," has been sentenced to death by an Iranian court for insulting Prophet Muhammad. The singer was accused of committing treason. Earlier, he had been sentenced to five years in prison in the same case, but after an appeal, the Supreme Court approved the prosecutor's objections and reopened the case.
In this case, the court confirmed that Amir would be sentenced to death for insulting the Prophet. However, the singer has been given the opportunity to appeal the verdict.
The 37-year-old music artist had been secretly living in Istanbul since 2018, but in December 2023, he was handed over to Iran by Turkish authorities. Since then, he has been in Iranian custody. He had previously been sentenced to ten years for promoting prostitution and received another punishment for anti-Islamic propaganda.
