As Canada gears up for elections next year, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has encountered a major political blow. The National Democratic Party (NDP), led by Jagmeet Singh, a supporter of Khalistani causes, has announced its intention to introduce a no-confidence motion against Trudeau's Liberal government.
Taking to Twitter, Jagmeet Singh shared a letter outlining his stance, stating that Trudeau has failed as a Prime Minister and has been working for the powerful rather than the people. "The NDP is prepared to bring this government down. We will give Canadians the opportunity to elect a government that works for them. A no-confidence motion will be introduced in the next House of Commons session," he declared, sparking political turbulence in Canada.
In a related development, Canada’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland recently announced her resignation, alleging that Trudeau is losing public support. Recognized as one of the most influential figures in Trudeau’s cabinet, Freeland decided to step down following Trudeau’s decision to reassign the finance ministry she headed.
The upcoming elections have also intensified focus on Trudeau's perceived support from Khalistani groups, further escalating political uncertainty. If the no-confidence motion garners support from all opposition parties, it could bring an end to Trudeau's nine-year tenure as Prime Minister.
