TikTok has officially ceased its operations in the United States following a Supreme Court directive. The app’s parent company, ByteDance, confirmed the decision to halt services, marking a major development in the ongoing scrutiny of the platform.
The U.S. government has accused TikTok of sharing American user data with the Chinese government through ByteDance, raising national security concerns. The Supreme Court has clarified that it would have no objection if ByteDance sold TikTok to an American-based company operating independently within the U.S. However, ByteDance has reportedly declined this option.
This decision has intensified debates about data privacy, digital sovereignty, and the future of foreign-owned apps operating in the U.S., leaving millions of TikTok users uncertain about what lies ahead.
