Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for prioritizing political needs over long-standing relationships. His comments came during a discussion about the strained Indo-Canadian relations following a violent attack by Khalistani supporters on a Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada. India condemned this violence and called for the prosecution of those responsible.
Amarinder Singh highlighted that Trudeau's government supports terrorist and separatist groups for political gain calling this behavior irresponsible and nearly criminal. He noted that it is unusual for countries with decades of friendship like India and Canada to face such tension.
Singh recalled warning Trudeau during their meetings about Canada becoming a haven for Khalistani separatism, gun smuggling and gang violence providing a list of individuals involved some connected to Trudeau’s government. He criticized Trudeau for ignoring these issues to boost his political support.
