Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann addressed the ongoing road blockades by farmers, emphasizing, “Excess of everything is bad,” and questioning the constant protests. He stated, “Blocking roads almost every day without any reason is not justified,” highlighting concerns over the disruptions affecting daily life.
The road blockades, organized by the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha under activist Sarwan Singh Pandher, are set to continue indefinitely across Punjab. This ongoing protest has brought both praise and criticism, with some questioning its impact on the region’s stability.
Interestingly, despite traditionally backing farmer protests, Congress saw a significant loss in Punjab in 2022 and Haryana in 2024, a shift attributed to substantial counter-polarization among the electorate. This trend underscores the complex and evolving public sentiment around agricultural protests in the region.
