Different rules for different people?

Different rules for different people?

Two tragedies in recent times have shaken Indians badly: the first one was the Hathras stampede in which 120 people lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh.

Huge number of people had gathered for the ‘Satsang’, especially women for self-styled godman Bhole Baba’s event.

The second incident was the horrifying death of three IAS aspirants due to flooding of the basement at Rau’s IAS Study Circle in New Delhi.

In the first instance, the FIR has been filed and Bhole Baba has not been named in it. Instead, it held the Satsang organisers and local administration responsible for the stampede.

However, Rau’s IAS Study Circle owner Abhishek Gupta has been arrested and sent to judicial remand for 14 days.

Now, Abhishek Gupta was not present on the fateful day at the Institute when the tragedy occurred, nevertheless there were many lapses found at the institute and for which he was held responsible.

Yet, when it comes to Bhole Baba, even political parties have been reluctant to name him. Why? Is it because of his huge following among the Dalits?

Ironically, BSP Head Mayawati (a Dalit herself) was the only political leader with the gumption to demand action against Bhole Baba.

But then, this is India where different rules apply to different people and any kind of issue is looked at from a vote-bank perspective. That is all that matters!
