Mamata Banerjee is leaving no stone unturned in trying to get into an altercation with the Modi government, at each and every possible opportunity.
It seems like the TMC has embarked on a well thought out strategy to hit out at the NDA judging by the recent events.
First, it was Mamata’s nephew and heir apparent Abhishek Banerjee who launched an all-out attack on the BJP in Parliament over the Budget saying it catered to only those Parties whose support the BJP needed.
He then rubbed further salt in the BJP’s wounds by claiming that the BJP as a Party lacked diversity as it did not have a single Muslim in either the Upper or Lower House of Parliament.
Next, Mamata Banerjee referring to the violence in Bangladesh said her government would provide shelter to those people fleeing the neighbouring country if they come “knocking at our doors.”
Since providing refuge to foreigners comes under the ambit of the External Affairs Ministry, Mamata was criticized for her unilateral statement. She hit back saying her remarks were distorted by BJP.
Now, in her latest act, Mamata who attended the NITI Aayog meeting in New Delhi (despite being a part of the INDIA Bloc that had decided to boycott it) claimed she was insulted and her mike was muted after she spoke for only five minutes whereas Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was given 20 minutes to speak and the Chief Ministers of Assam, Goa and Chattisgarh spoke for 10-12 minutes. Mamata said that following this insult, she left the meeting and vowed never to attend it again.
Following these allegations, the NITI Aayog Chairman gave a clear cut timeline of what actually transpired at the meeting, exposing Mamata’s lies in the process. But far more damning is the view expressed by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
"The things that Mamata Banerjee is saying regarding NITI Aayog meeting, I feel like she is lying ... it is very surprising if a state's chief minister would not be allowed to speak. Mamata Banerjee knew what would be happening there ... she had the script… she knew what was going to happen in the meeting," said Chowdhury.
Well, only Mamata knows whether she’s lying or not but one thing is for sure……with Mamata around, there will never be any shortage of drama.
