Opinion
The Saffron camp is confident that they will once again form the government at the centre.
There are several reasons for their optimism. Many believe that the construction of Ayodhya Ram Mandir has boosted the BJP’s chances this time around!
However, has the BJP lost its grip even more in the south? The situation seems to suggest so!
The states of Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have not witnessed any miraculous election victories for the BJP, even during the Modi wave that swept across India.
It raises questions about whether the BJP can replicate their 2014 or 2019 election success in the 2024 elections.
There are many factors that could affect this outcome.
Karnataka
The BJP Suffered a defeat in the Karnataka assembly elections, which could significantly impact their performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
In the previous Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had nearly swept Karnataka, but things are not as easy this time around.
Congress can show a strong competition in at least Ten MP seats. If the upcoming elections work similarly to the assembly election, the congress party ma see better days in Karnataka.
Telangana
The outcome of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana will determine the future of BJP in the state. Despite having hopes of gaining power in Telangana, BJP has not been able to maintain that momentum.
Congress has made a comeback and Revath Reddy has become CM. Congress has a good chance of winning in good number of MP seats in Telangana. BRS is also giving a tough fight.
Compared to the previous Lok Sabha elections, BJP’s chances of improvement in the state seem bleak. Retaining the MP seats won in the last election won’t be easy for them!
Kerala
The BJP is making a strong effort to establish its presence in Kerala by winning at lease on MP Seat. There are currently focusing their campaign on four specific MP seats.
However, recent surveys are predicting that the congress alliance will win all the MP seats in Kerala. This means that the BJP’s dream of making significant gains in Kerala may not come true this time around!
Tamil Nadu
In Tamil Nadu, AIADMK has distanced it self from the BJP. Despite the BJP’s efforts to strengthen its position in the state, it has been unsuccessful in gaining the support of the Tamil people.
Andhra Pradesh
The BJP seems to be forming opportunistic alliances once again, particularly in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Their Alliance with Telugu Desam Party not only to be attributed to the opportunism of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu. By Joining hands with TDP,
The BJP is sending a clear message that they do not have any fixed ideological commitments and are willing to forge alliances base on the number of seats they can contest. The BJP Is contesting six parliamentary seats in AP with the support of TDP!
It is ironic that while the BJP criticizes regional parties for being centered with family members, it itself is forming electoral alliances with JD(S) in Karnataka and the TDP in Andhra Pradesh. Leaders of the BJP should take note of this contradiction.
Even the expectations that some south Indians had about Modi In 2014 have now vanished!
After being in power for ten years, it appears that the BJP is using religious slogans and temples to regain power once again. The tactics have not been successful for the BJP in the southern regions of India.
