TMC Bangs Huge Success In Bypolls

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) swept the Assembly bypolls in West Bengal winning all four seats contested.

The BJP trailed significantly in all four constituencies while the Left-Congress alliance candidates lost their deposits in three of them.

In Maniktala, TMC candidate Supti Pande won by 62,312 votes against BJP's Kalyan Chaubey. In Raiganj, TMC's Krishna Kalyani won by 50,077 votes, securing 86,479 votes to BJP's Mamas Kumar's 36,402.

In Ranaghat-Dakshin, TMC's Mukut Mani Adhikari won by 39,048 votes, with 1,13,533 votes against BJP's Manoj Kumar Biswas's 74,485.

In Bagdah TMC's Madhuparna Thakur won by 33,455 votes obtaining 1,07,706 votes to BJP's Binay Kumar Biswas's 74,251.

TMC hailed these victories as a rejection of the BJP by the people of Bengal. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh stated that the BJP's allegations of unfair elections were excuses for their failures.

The results come a month after TMC's success in the Lok Sabha polls where it increased its seats from 22 to 29 in West Bengal.
