The Hyderabad city police have filed a case against Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP Hyderabad Lok Sabha candidate K Madhavi Latha, and other BJP leaders. They are accused of involving minors in a recent poll campaign in Hyderabad.
According to a complaint lodged with the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer by Niranjan Reddy, vice-president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, during a BJP rally on May 1st, minors were present on the stage with Shah.
Reddy claimed that one child was holding a BJP symbol, which violates Election Commission guidelines.
The CEO forwarded Reddy's complaint to the city police for investigation. As a result, an FIR was filed against Shah by the Moghalpura police station on May 2nd.
Other accused individuals include T Yaman Singh, senior BJP leader G Kishan Reddy, and legislator T Raja Singh.
The police registered the case under IPC Section 188 pertaining to the violation of orders issued by a public servant and are currently conducting further investigations.
