Maneka Gandhi’s secret of success

Do you know who is the longest serving Member of Parliament? It’s Maneka Gandhi who has fought nine elections to date and won eight out of them.

She is in the fray again from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh representing the BJP.

It’s no mean feat to be winning consistently and what is the secret of her success as a politician? Maneka opened up in a recent interview on her approach to politics.

“I look at two perspectives: macro and micro. Macro is about the larger issues in the constituency like building roads, bridges, improving the infrastructure etc. Micro is all about the people and the solutions to their individual problems. Thousands of people come to me with small, individual issues, a land dispute, someone in their family is sick etc. and they don’t know what to do. They place their faith in me and I try to deliver.” Maneka summed it up saying the micro was more important than the macro.
