West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim that he is sent by God for a special purpose suggesting that gods should be kept in temples.
Speaking at a rally Banerjee sarcastically said they would build a temple for Modi, worship him and offer dhokla as prasadh.
Her comments followed Modi's recent interview where he stated he was divinely sent.
This interview also came after BJP's Sambit Patra, running for the Puri Lok Sabha seat, mistakenly called Lord Jagannath a 'Modi Bhakt,' which he later regretted, saying it was a slip of the tongue.
Banerjee contrasted Modi with previous Prime Ministers she had worked with, such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajiv Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, and others, stating that she saw no need for a prime minister like Modi, as she had never encountered one like him before.
