Indian Wrestler Gets Death Threats

Olympian wrestler Bajrang Punia recently reported receiving death threats from an international number via WhatsApp urging him to leave the Congress party or face serious consequences. He immediately filed a complaint with the police who have begun an investigation into the matter.

Punia and fellow Olympian Vinesh Phogat joined the Congress party ahead of the Haryana assembly polls. Phogat will contest the Julana seat while Punia has been appointed the Working Chairman of the All India Kisan Congress. Both wrestlers expressed their gratitude to the Congress for supporting them during their protests highlighting the lack of support from the BJP.

They had resigned from their Indian Railway posts before joining the party. Punia thanked the Northern Railways for their guidance during his service, citing personal reasons for his resignation. The Congress welcomed the duo praising their leadership during protests and expressing pride in their decision to enter politics.
