India-Russian Ties: Something Big In Line?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected in Moscow from July 8 to 9 for the 22nd India and Russia Annual Summit on President Vladimir Putin's invitation. 

This visit is crucial for bilateral relations with discussions covering a range of topics including regional and global issues. 

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the agenda as extensive and stressed the strategic partnership between the two countries. 

Both one on one and delegation talks are planned. This will be Modi's first visit to Russia since 2019 marking nearly five years since his last visit to Vladivostok.

The annual summit  holds the highest level of dialogue between India and Russia. The last summit was held in December 2021 in New Delhi. 

Historically strong ties between India and Russia have grown since Russia's military actions in Ukraine with India becoming a significant buyer of Russian oil amidst Western sanctions. 

Trade experts and business circles are expecting some startegic moves with this meeting with regard to international trade with rupee and other decisions would be made stronger in the interest of India's economic growth. We need to see what is in line.
