We're aware that film actors like Kangana Ranaut from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Ravi Kishan from Gorakhpur, Dinesh Lal Yadav, also known as Nirahua, from Azamgarh, Suresh Gopi from Thrissur, Kerala, Hema Malini from Mathura, and Arun Govil from Meerut are contesting in the Lok Sabha polls. Now, Govinda has also joined the list.
Actor Govinda made headlines as he joined the Shiv Sena (Shinde group) in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Expressing gratitude for this new opportunity Govinda stated, "I am joining Shiv Sena, and it is a blessing of God. I thought I would not enter politics again...but Shinde's leadership brought me back" He emphasized his admiration for the party's values, referring to it as "Ram Rajya" under Shinde's leadership.
Govinda highlighted his family's longstanding connection with Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray and praised the party's commitment to progress and cultural development in Maharashtra.
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde noted Govinda's desire to bridge the gap between the government and the film industry by affirming his role as a liaison.
There's speculation that Govinda may contest the Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai North West constituency.
His political journey began in 2004 with the Congress party where he served as a Lok Sabha MP before returning to acting in 2008.
