The BJP accused Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala of making derogatory remarks about Hema Malini and manipulating it to counter that the BJP distorted his comments.
He emphasized his respect for Malini and criticized the BJP's diversionary tactics from issues like government policies and constitutional integrity.
Surjewala highlighted the accountability of public figures while denying any intention to insult Malini.
He criticized the BJP's treatment of women and cited recent Election Commission actions against derogatory remarks made by politicians from both parties.
The controversy arose from a video shared by the BJP, where Surjewala allegedly made disrespectful remarks about Malini using the word 'lick'.
Surjewala was seen saying, “Why people elect their MLAs/MPs? So that they (MLAs/MPs) can raise the public's voice. It's not like Hema Malini, who was elected to lick.”
The BJP's IT cell head, Amit Malviya, condemned the comments, linking them to a broader pattern of disrespect towards women within the Congress.
It was just a few days ago even Congress leader Shrinate was brought under scanner for making derogatory remarks about Kangana Ranaut, though the former clarified that it was nor done by her but posted by someone else who holds the access to her social media account.
