The BJP has asked the Election Commission to stop senior leader KS Eshwarappa from using pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Shivamogga, where he's running as an independent candidate.
Modi's images are only for BJP candidates or their allies. Eshwarappa, as an independent, is misleading voters by suggesting he represents Modi and the BJP, which could affect the election outcome, according to the BJP's letter to the Commission.
The BJP wants strict action against Eshwarappa and a ban on using Modi's or other BJP leaders' images.
Eshwarappa, a prominent Kuruba leader and former state BJP president is determined to challenge BY Raghavendra, the official BJP candidate in Shivamogga.
Despite attempts at compromise by BJP leaders, Eshwarappa remains resolute in his decision.
He's upset over his son KE Kantesh being denied a ticket from Haveri, holding Eshwarappa responsible for this decision.
