CBI Informs Court: Kavita Threatened Sharath Reddy

The CBI informed a special court in Delhi that K Kavitha, the leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), allegedly threatened Aurobindo Pharma promoter Sharath Chandra Reddy to pay ?25 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for securing retail zones under Delhi's excise policy.

Kavitha purportedly warned Reddy of harm to his business in Telangana and Delhi if he didn't comply.

Reddy initially implicated in a money laundering case related to a liquor scam, became an approver in the case under the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The CBI seeks Kavitha's custody, alleging she persuaded Reddy to enter the liquor business in Delhi with promises of government connections.

Kavitha allegedly directed payments to AAP via her associates, demanding ?25 crore from Reddy for five retail zones. She purportedly coerced Reddy into a land sale agreement, receiving ?14 crore.

Kavitha allegedly threatened Reddy when he hesitated to pay, citing the potential harm to his business. The court has remanded Kavitha to CBI custody until April 15.
