After Ayodhya, BJP Lost In Badrinath

Following Ayodhya the BJP faced another setback as its candidate lost in the Badrinath by election.

On Saturday Congress's Lakhpat Singh Butola emerged victorious defeating his closest competitor and former minister and BJP MLA Rajendra Singh Bhandari by a margin of 5224 votes.

The election held on July 10 saw a total of 54,228 votes cast. Out of these Congress secured 28,161 votes while the BJP garnered 22,937 votes.

This result marked a significant decrease for Bhandari who received 10,000 fewer votes compared to the 2022 assembly elections.

This by election result demonstrates a shift in voter preference in Badrinath a prominent Hindu majority constituency.

The victory for Congress in this significant region indicates changing political dynamics and poses challenges for the BJP as it assesses its strategy moving forward.
