Yediyurappa gets relief in POCSO case

Yediyurappa gets relief in POCSO case

In the POCSO case involving former Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa, there has been a recent development. A 17-year-old girl, who is reportedly facing psychological issues, had accused Yediyurappa of sexually assaulting her. Following these allegations, a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case was registered against him. On March 15, a Fast Track Court had directed Yediyurappa to appear for the hearing in the case. However, Yediyurappa approached the Karnataka High Court challenging this directive.

The High Court, after reviewing his petition, stayed the summons issued by the Fast Track Court and put a hold on its orders. This means that Yediyurappa does not have to appear before the Fast Track Court for now, as the High Court has intervened and temporarily halted the proceedings.

Delving into the details of the case, the victim and her mother had met Yediyurappa on February 2 last year, seeking his help in a fraud case. During this meeting, the victim's mother alleged that Yediyurappa forcibly took her daughter into a room and sexually assaulted her. Based on this complaint, the POCSO case was filed against him. However, Yediyurappa's office has denied these allegations, claiming that the complainant had made similar accusations against others in the past as well.

The case is currently under judicial scrutiny, and further developments are awaited as the legal process unfolds.
