While it is extremely important for the BJP and indirectly, the RSS that Narendra Modi came back to power for the third time to keep pursuing their ideological agenda successfully, Modi 3.0 is probably the most important for Amit Shah.
Lately, there has been talk of ‘who next’ after Modi? Some of the names being bandied about are those of Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Yogi Adityanath and of course, Amit Shah himself.
If the choice were left to Modi, he would probably nominate Amit Shah. In fact, the BJP in the recently concluded elections thought that they could even do without the RSS, a factor which contributed to their declined performance.
But now, both Amit Shah and Modi have probably realized that the ‘Sangh’ is indispensable.
Therefore, when Mohan Bhagwat recently pulled up the BJP government over allowing the Manipur crisis to linger, Amit Shah got into the act and conducted a high-level meeting attended by all the top officials and key stakeholders in Manipur.
This is clearly an indication that the BJP does not want to antagonize the Sangh, any further.
If Amit Shah is to ascend to the top post in the country, there is no way he can do it without absolute backing from the ‘RSS’.
And the man who has ‘never lost an election in his life’ seems to have realized this.
