Where Does India Rank Among the Happiest Countries?

Finland has once again secured the top spot as the happiest country in the world, according to the World Happiness Report 2024. Interestingly, India did not make it into the Top 100 happiest countries.

Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Australia round out the Top 10 happiest nations. India, however, is ranked 126th on the list.

Why Is India Ranked So Low?

Several factors contribute to India's lower ranking, including:

1. Economic Disparities: A significant wealth gap impacts overall well-being.
2. Mental Health Challenges: Limited access to mental health care and increasing stress levels.
3. Social Inequalities: Discrimination based on caste, religion, and gender affects societal happiness.
4. Infrastructure and Basic Needs: Access to quality education, healthcare, and public services is inconsistent.
5. Environmental Issues: Pollution and climate challenges also weigh heavily on people's happiness.
