On the first day of the Parliament Budget Session, President Droupadi Murmu addressed both houses, but her speech sparked controversy after Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi criticized it. She described the address as "weak and uninspiring."
When asked by media representatives for her opinion on the President’s speech, Sonia Gandhi initially responded with the words "false promises" in a low voice. She further remarked, “The President seemed extremely exhausted by the end and was struggling to speak. The speech was weak.”
Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, also reacted to the speech and supported his mother’s comments. He sarcastically questioned, “Boring? No comments? Repeating the same things again and again?”
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strongly condemned Sonia and Rahul Gandhi’s remarks. BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar criticized them, saying, “Leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should not make such derogatory comments about the President. Droupadi Murmu comes from a tribal background and is now the country’s first citizen. The Congress party’s feudal mindset cannot accept this, which is why they are opposing her speech.”
