Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence that Maharashtra’s Mahayuti alliance, consisting of the BJP, Shiv Sena (led by Eknath Shinde), and Ajit Pawar’s NCP, will win the state assembly elections with a full majority.
After the elections a joint committee from the three parties will prioritize their promises, and the decision on the chief minister will be made collectively. Shah criticized the opposition's family-based politics, claiming that Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar split their respective parties by favoring family members over other leaders.
Rejecting Congress’ allegations of BJP undermining reservations Shah affirmed the BJP's support for OBC reservations. He also mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for a publicity stunt that backfired. Responding to opposition claims of Maharashtra lagging in investments Shah highlighted Maharashtra’s recent top ranking in foreign direct investment under the Mahayuti government contrasting it with the prior opposition-led government’s performance.
