Tamil actor Vijay made a confident entry into politics, declaring, “I may lack political experience, but I am not afraid of politics.” At Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’s (TVK) first Mahanaadu gathering near Villupuram, he addressed a large crowd of supporters, articulating his vision and the party’s principles. Vijay, now TVK’s president, highlighted a Dravidian and Tamil nationalist approach, committed to secular and social justice ideals inspired by leaders like Periyar, K. Kamaraj, Ambedkar, Velu Nachiyar, and Anjalai Ammal.
Despite lacking political experience, Vijay emphasized his trust in his supporters and commitment to public service, comparing his move to earlier cinematic icons like MGR and NTR. He addressed critics, saying, “I left my film career at its peak to serve the people.”
On policy, he discussed NEET, condemning it while citing the tragic death of student Anitha, advocating educational reform. He criticized the BJP’s authoritarianism and raised issues with the DMK’s Dravidian model. Vijay declared TVK’s readiness for the 2026 Assembly elections, hoping for a majority but open to coalitions if required.
TVK leaders outlined key goals, including social equity, secularism, anti-corruption measures, bilingualism, and a drug-free Tamil Nadu.
