Video: AAP leader swallows his tears

AAP leader and Health Minister (soon to be former) Saurabh Bhardwaj became emotional after the shocking defeat in the Delhi elections. While the BJP secured a grand victory, including Arvind Kejriwal and other AAP leaders facing defeat, Saurabh Bhardwaj acknowledged the loss, but couldn't hold back tears when speaking to the party workers.

In the Delhi Assembly elections, Bhardwaj lost to BJP candidate Shikha Rai. Addressing his workers, he said, "Winning and losing are natural in a game, and the same goes for politics. I accept the defeat of my party, but I can't bear to see my workers in tears." At that moment, he was about to cry but quickly composed himself and swallowed his tears. He expressed pride in seeing every AAP worker who struggled for the party in Delhi.

Saurabh Bhardwaj had won twice from the Greater Kailash constituency in previous elections. However, in this election, he was defeated by Shikha Rai of the BJP by a margin of 3,000 votes. Shikha Rai received 49,594 votes, while Bhardwaj received 46,406 votes. Congress candidate Garvit Singhvi got 6,711 votes. Notably, in the 2015 and 2020 elections, Bhardwaj won by a margin of 14,000 and 16,000 votes respectively.

In the 70-seat Delhi Assembly, the BJP achieved an extraordinary result by winning 48 seats. AAP, which had won 67 and 62 seats in the last two elections, dropped to just 22 seats. Meanwhile, Congress was limited to zero seats. After Prime Minister Modi's foreign trip, there is a possibility of the BJP government taking office in Delhi.
