The Samajwadi Party (SP) has made shocking allegations regarding the stampede that occurred during the Maha Kumbh Mela, accusing the Uttar Pradesh government of failing in crowd management. The party claimed that while the government focused on VIP ghats, it neglected safety arrangements for the general public.
Though the government officially confirmed that 30 people lost their lives in the stampede, the SP insists that the actual number is much higher.
Speaking on the issue, SP MP and Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan alleged that some of the unidentified bodies of stampede victims were secretly disposed of in the waters to cover up the true death toll. She expressed concern that devotees performing holy dips in the river might unknowingly be bathing in contaminated waters.
Jaya Bachchan demanded an immediate investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, former UP Chief Minister and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also reacted, alleging that the government suppressed the real facts about the stampede and called for a judicial probe into the incident.
