In Tamil Nadu, Vijay is a top hero, while in Telugu, Pawan Kalyan is the "Power Star." Compared to Vijay, Pawan Kalyan entered politics much earlier. However, in terms of inspiring action, Tamil hero Vijay is showing greater momentum. A while ago, he launched a political party called "Vetri Kaligam" with the goal of bringing change to Tamil Nadu. Assembly elections are scheduled for next year in Tamil Nadu.
Vijay is actively working towards political power. Recently, in a party meeting in Mahabalipuram, Vijay stated that his party would win a majority in the upcoming assembly elections and create history in Tamil Nadu politics. He proclaimed that his party would always provide power to the common people. He also criticized the DMK government for corruption and irregularities, while accusing the central government of turning a blind eye. He further attacked the DMK and BJP for their alleged alliance.
On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan launched his Jana Sena Party grandly before the 2014 elections. However, he didn’t contest the elections and instead supported the TDP-BJP alliance. Pawan, who once said he formed the party to question the system, faced severe criticism for not speaking out against the corruption of the TDP-BJP government.
In the 2019 elections, he formed an alliance with left-wing parties and the BSP, but lost in the two constituencies he contested. After the YSRCP came to power in Andhra Pradesh and the BJP regained power at the center, Pawan took a U-turn and formed an alliance with the BJP. He openly admitted in public meetings that he had to face criticism from BJP leaders to form this alliance for the 2024 elections.
While Pawan's political journey has been like this, his Tamil counterpart, Vijay, has launched a political party with a clear goal of gaining power, even attacking the BJP in the process. Pawan, on the other hand, has been criticized for being inconsistent with his words and actions. Vijay's speeches are filled with a sense of self-confidence, while Pawan's speeches are seen by some as lacking clarity and conviction.
As an example, Pawan's recent comments in the Assembly about staying with Chandrababu Naidu for another 15 years are being pointed out by Jana Sena workers. There are growing opinions that for a political leader to emerge as a true alternative force, they need to display a vision for change like Vijay. However, Pawan's words often lack that sense of change, with his actions showing a different direction, leading to criticism even from his own party members.
