A tragic accident occurred near Washington, D.C., when a passenger plane collided with a military helicopter, leading to a massive rescue operation. Both aircraft crashed into a river, and with temperatures near zero degrees, the rescue efforts have become extremely challenging.
U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his condolences over the incident but also raised suspicions about the air traffic control's handling of the situation. He directly blamed the air traffic control for the mishap.
Trump stated, "The plane was on a precise path towards the runway, traveling normally. However, the helicopter had been moving directly towards the plane for quite some time. Despite the darkness, everything was clear. The plane's lights were on. Why didn’t the helicopter move up, down, or to the side? Instead of asking the helicopter crew if they saw the plane, the control tower should have directly instructed them on what to do. Why didn’t they do that?"
Trump, who is personally overseeing the rescue operations, criticized the command control staff for their alleged negligence. However, the White House has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
So far, 19 people have been confirmed dead in the accident. The plane was carrying 64 passengers at the time of the crash, while the helicopter had three military personnel on board. There are fears that the death toll could rise further.
The incident has sparked widespread concern and raised questions about air traffic control protocols and safety measures. Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities working tirelessly to save lives and recover the wreckage.
