TMC MP Injured After Breaking Glass Bottle During Heated JPC Meeting

A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, turned chaotic today in New Delhi when a heated argument broke out between ruling and opposition members. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee, in a fit of anger, broke a glass bottle, injuring his hand.

The meeting, chaired by BJP MP Jagdambika Pal, included participation from retired judges, lawyers, and both opposition and BJP MPs. During the discussion, a verbal clash erupted between Kalyan Banerjee and BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay. As tensions escalated, Banerjee angrily shattered a glass water bottle, resulting in an injury to his hand from the broken glass.

With blood flowing from his hand, Banerjee was given first aid and later taken to the hospital for further treatment. Following the incident, he was reportedly suspended from the parliamentary committee due to his behavior.
