The Maha Kumbh Mela at Prayag Raj, which is considered sacred by Hindus, concluded with grandeur on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri Wednesday. The event, marked by the faith of crores of devotees and blessings from the Akharas, stood as a symbol of unity, harmony, and devotion. The Triveni Sangam served as the backdrop for this grand celebration. Over a span of 45 days, more than 660 million devotees participated in the world’s largest spiritual gathering.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently commented on the event, stating that the Maha Yagya performed for unity was a great success. He praised the Kumbh Mela as a representation of Indian unity. He mentioned that people from different regions came together to take holy baths at the sacred confluence. Organizing such a vast event without any hindrances was no easy task, Modi remarked. He expressed his gratitude to the Uttar Pradesh government and the people for successfully conducting the event.
He also prayed to the holy rivers—Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati—asking for forgiveness for any shortcomings in the arrangements. The Prime Minister requested forgiveness for any inconvenience that devotees may have faced during the event.
The Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13 and lasted for 45 days, saw over 662 million participants taking part in the holy dip. On the final day alone, more than 14.4 million devotees were estimated to have participated. This event has been recorded as the largest spiritual gathering in the world. Many prominent national and international figures attended the Kumbh Mela to take part in the sacred baths. Devotees who could not attend in person were also given the opportunity to experience the event digitally through "virtual" photo baths.
