Indians know the movie 'Vicky Donor' where Ayushmann Khurrana played the lead role as a sperm donor who begets hundreds of children. But now we have a celebrity Vicky Donor in real life.
Pavel Durov the co-founder and CEO of Telegram shared on the platform that he is a biological father to over 100 children across 12 countries.
Durov disclosed that this came about through sperm donation which he began fifteen years ago. A friend unable to conceive with his wife asked Durov to donate sperm leading him to discover he was considered "high quality donor material."
Encouraged by the clinic Durov continued to donate helping many families worldwide. Although he has since stopped donating his frozen sperm remains available for anonymous use by families who wish to have children.
Durov expressed his intent to open-source his DNA enabling his biological children to find each other more easily and promoting transparency.
He hopes this will help destigmatize sperm donation and encourage more healthy men to donate addressing a global shortage of healthy sperm.
Durov concluded by encouraging others to challenge societal norms and rethink conventional ideas about sperm donation highlighting his pride in contributing to alleviating this shortage.
