Uncertainty looms over the Maharashtra Chief Minister (CM) post. On Thursday, Mahayuti leaders met NDA's top brass in Delhi to discuss government formation in Maharashtra. Following the meeting, caretaker CM Eknath Shinde stated that positive discussions took place, and the CM candidate is expected to be announced within a day or two. However, a scheduled meeting in Mumbai on Friday to deliberate on the issue was unexpectedly canceled, as Shinde abruptly traveled to his hometown, Satara.
Reports suggest that Shinde changed his stance after his meeting with Amit Shah, expressing dissatisfaction with the coalition's proposed formula. His unplanned visit to his hometown sparked speculation that he might be displeased with the leadership's decision.
The Shiv Sena dismissed these claims, clarifying that Shinde's visit to Satara was due to health reasons and not dissatisfaction. Shiv Sena leader and IT minister Uday Samant stated, "Shinde is not unhappy with the leadership's decision. He was unwell and chose to visit his hometown for rest. It is incorrect to link his trip to discontent." The canceled meeting might now take place today (Saturday).
