Surgical Scissors Removed After 12 Years in Sikkim

In a shocking incident in Sikkim, doctors removed a pair of surgical scissors that had been accidentally left inside a woman’s abdomen for 12 years after an operation. 

The woman had undergone an appendicitis surgery at STNM Hospital over a decade ago. During the procedure, a surgical instrument was left inside her abdomen and went unnoticed. The issue came to light recently when an X-ray at the same hospital revealed the presence of the scissors.

On Thursday, the doctors successfully removed the object through another surgery. A committee has been set up to investigate the negligence.
