The topic about EVMs has been burning in news columns and social media across India ever since Elon Musk added fuel with his tweet. This has become a tool to criticize the winning party by Congress.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia criticized Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for his comments on EVMs.
Scindia accused the Congress party of alleging EVM hacking whenever they lose elections a sentiment reflected in Gandhi's recent concerns about EVM vulnerabilities following a post by Elon Musk on the potential risks of EVM hacking by humans or AI.
Scindia mocked Gandhi's stance citing that the Congress only praises EVMs when they win.
He also shared that the Indian public is aware of this tactic which is why the BJP has been repeatedly elected with a majority.
The debate over EVM tampering intensified after Musk's tweet which recommended eliminating EVMs due to hacking risks.
Gandhi seconded this reminding an earlier media report about alleged EVM hacking in Mumbai.
Opposition leaders criticized the government over these claims but former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar defended Indian EVMs asserting they are custom designed, secure and disconnected from any network making hacking impossible.
He invited Musk to learn from India's approach to EVM security.
