Shiv Sena UBT leader Arvind Sawant stirred controversy by calling Shaina NC a former BJP leader who recently joined Shiv Sena, "imported maal" during a media statement. He claimed that only "original" members are valued in the party. Shaina responded strongly highlighting the sexist nature of Sawant's comment and asserting that it reflects the attitudes of his party which she accused of objectifying women.
She filed a formal complaint against Sawant stating that the law must address his disrespectful remark. After the backlash Sawant defended his statement and accused Shaina of trying to manipulate public perception. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and other leaders condemned Sawant's comments calling them unfortunate and unacceptable.
They emphasized that derogatory remarks against women have no place in society especially in Maharashtra which promotes women's empowerment and respect.
