The Model Code of Conduct for Maharashtra’s assembly elections began on October 15, with strict monitoring by central and state authorities. By October 25 officials seized assets worth Rs 100.4 crore, including illegal cash, liquor, drugs and valuable metals.
From October 15 to 25, 1,259 complaints were submitted via the C-Vigil App with 1250 resolved by the Election Commission. The Election Commission of India (ECI) set November 20 for the elections to 288 assemblies with results on November 23 enforcing the conduct code immediately.
Within the first three days, 420 complaints were filed, and Rs 10.64 crore in unaccounted assets was confiscated. The C-Vigil App, available on app stores, allows citizens to report code violations, which are typically resolved within 100 minutes. Citizens can also report violations via helpline 1950 or the ECI’s website.
