An FIR was filed against Samajwadi Party MLA Mehboob Ali after his controversial statement predicting the end of BJP rule in Uttar Pradesh due to the rising Muslim population.
Speaking at a public gathering in Bijnor, Ali claimed that Muslims would soon come to power and referenced the Mughal rule stating that BJP's time would end by 2027.
His remarks, shared widely on social media, were condemned for promoting enmity between Hindus and Muslims. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized Ali's comments, accusing the Samajwadi Party of dividing Hindus and uniting Muslims for political gain. Poonawalla also criticized Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, accusing him of supporting divisive views.
BJP's Andhra Pradesh vice-president also condemned Ali's statement, calling it anti-Hindu. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are scheduled for 2027, and Ali’s remarks have intensified political tensions.
