The BJP high command has finally revealed the name of the new Chief Minister of Delhi, ending the suspense. Rekha Gupta has been chosen as the new Chief Minister of Delhi. She won the recent Assembly elections from the Shalimar Bagh constituency. Rekha Gupta had previously served as the state secretary of the BJP. She is also an alumna of the prestigious Delhi University.
There were reports suggesting that Parvesh Verma, who defeated AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, was leading in the race for the Chief Minister's position. However, in a surprising move, the BJP leadership selected Rekha Gupta as the Chief Minister. It is believed that this decision was made unanimously in the Delhi BJP legislative party meeting this evening.
In a significant development, Parvesh Verma, who caused a major stir by defeating Kejriwal, has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister. Vijayendra Gupta has been selected as the Speaker. Tomorrow, along with the Chief Minister, six cabinet ministers are expected to take the oath of office.
After a 27-year-long hiatus, the BJP has secured victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. As a result, the oath-taking ceremony tomorrow will be conducted in a grand manner. The oath ceremony is expected to take place at 12:35 PM tomorrow.
