Rahul Makes speaker Bowing Down An Issue

During a session in Parliament Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pointed out that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla bowed when shaking hands with PM Modi but stood straight when shaking his. 

This remark caused a stir with Union Home Minister Amit Shah objecting. 

Om Birla explained that his actions were rooted in cultural respect for seniors stating, "My culture dictates me to bow before my seniors or elders and give equal respect to my peers." 

Rahul Gandhi acknowledged Birla's stance but emphasized that no one should be above the Speaker of the House. 

This exchange followed Birla's re election as Lok Sabha Speaker with both PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi congratulating him and shaking hands with each other.
