In Bihar, a new political party has emerged, founded by political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor. On Wednesday, he officially launched the 'Jan Suraaj' party in Patna in the presence of prominent figures. The party will be led by retired Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Manoj Bharti. Jan Suraaj plans to contest all seats in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
During the launch, Prashant Kishor urged the large crowd to loudly chant “Jai Bihar.” He emphasized that only by raising their voices would the people of Bihar shed the derogatory label "Bihari" and that their message should reach Delhi, as well as states like Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and cities like Mumbai, where Bihari students and workers have faced mistreatment.
Earlier this week, Kishor criticized the BJP, claiming that due to Lalu Prasad's absence, Biharis have been voting out of fear. He stated that the goal of Jan Suraaj is to end this political helplessness and offer the people of Bihar a viable alternative. Kishor also announced that if his party is elected, they would lift the state's prohibition on alcohol and use the revenue to improve the education sector.
Prashant Kishor has been conducting a statewide 'padayatra' under the Jan Suraaj initiative, visiting various regions to understand the issues facing Bihar's citizens.
