Ahead of the Maharashtra election results on November 23, a poster in Pune showing NCP leader and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar as Chief Minister was removed. The state’s key contest is between the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
Mahayuti includes BJP, Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP faction while MVA comprises Congress, UBT-Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar's NCP faction. Exit polls predict Mahayuti retaining power, with P-MARQ projecting 137-157 seats for them and 126-147 for MVA in the 288-seat assembly.
Chanakya Strategies gives Mahayuti 152-150 seats and MVA 130-138. Other parties are expected to win 2-8 seats. Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde stated that Mahayuti leaders will jointly decide on the Chief Minister post, emphasizing their focus on development, unlike MVA, which he claimed was preoccupied with CM debates during its tenure.
